The Borges Tactile Museum offers a journey through some of the architectural beauties of Europe and the wider world, with particular attention to Sicily and the countries of the Mediterranean basin.
Its purpose is to bring art to life through touch, offering an experience shaped by a different perspective and methodology. Here, the museum’s only rule is: “Do not touch” — an invitation, in this case, to experience the works through your fingers.
Among the tactile models are works created entirely by the Regional Braille Printing House, including Catania’s Teatro Massimo “Bellini”, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Eiffel Tower, the Neolithic complex of Stonehenge and the Colosseum.
The museum also includes an art gallery devoted to innovative relief reproductions of paintings. These include Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam and Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, extending the tactile experience from architecture to painting.
