Tenuta delle Terre Nere is an award-winning winery on Mount Etna’s northern slopes, between Solicchiata and Randazzo. Founded in 2002 by Marco de Grazia, who helped map the area’s celebrated crus, the estate works with the marked variations of altitude, temperature and volcanic soil that define this part of Etna.
Its philosophy is grounded in meticulous care and organic balance. Given the mountain’s extreme climate, attention in the vineyards is essential to achieving ideal ripeness, with much of the work carried out by hand. This close concentration on the vines and the quality of the raw materials allows the winery to keep intervention in the cellar to a minimum.
The aim is for each wine to express the character of its grape variety and the particular microclimate in which it is grown. The result reflects the estate’s varied vineyard sites, shaped by Etna’s richly complex volcanic soils and pronounced temperature changes.
Behind this approach is a distinctive team, combining a delicate hand with a keen eye for detail and nuance. Tenuta delle Terre Nere offers an attentive, place-led interpretation of the mountain’s vineyards, where precision in the field is central to the character of the wines.
