MEC Restaurant, awarded one MICHELIN Star, occupies the renovated, high-tech setting of Palazzo Castrone, an illustrious late-sixteenth-century palazzo in Palermo’s historic centre, a stone’s throw from the Arab-Norman Cathedral.
The restaurant unfolds across six museum rooms, whose historic character provides an intriguing counterpoint to the contemporary setting. Together, they form an atmospheric stage for a dining experience distinctive in Palermo.
At the helm is 47-year-old chef Carmelo Trentacosti, a disciple of Nino Graziano whose career has included important collaborations at prestigious venues in the Veneto and elsewhere in Italy. His cooking reflects both technical experience and a close attachment to his land of origin.
Trentacosti’s dishes are precise and visually composed, with restrained flavours that allow their scents and ingredients to emerge clearly. The result is a refined cuisine that satisfies the palate without resorting to exaggeration.
