Terme dell’Indirizzo is an exceptional Roman thermal complex from the imperial era, set in Piazza Currò in the historic centre of Catania. Partly incorporated into the former convent of Santa Maria dell’Indirizzo, it offers a glimpse of the city’s ancient architecture within a later urban setting.
Built in lava stone and brick, the complex retains around ten rooms, many still covered by their original vaults. The surviving structures convey the scale and sophistication of the baths without requiring much interpretation beyond the fabric itself.
Among the most striking spaces is a large octagonal chamber with a domed roof, once equipped with hot-air ducts. The remains also include areas associated with the calidarium and frigidarium, recalling the contrasting temperatures and functions that shaped Roman bathing culture.
Located at Piazza Currò, the Terme dell’Indirizzo are free to visit, and booking is not required.
