Visit to one of the most renowned wineries located on the slopes of Mount Etna, an unmissable opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of this volcanic land. The restless giant. We are in Linguaglossa on Mount Etna. A collection of unique and fascinating territories. Here, man interacts, often with difficulty, with a beautiful yet equally complicated environment. Here, everything is extreme, at the limit of vine cultivation. Between 500 and 1,400 meters above sea level, lie the areas with the most outstanding winemaking vocation, and the vineyards most representative of Etna's oenology. It is precisely these vineyards that are responsible for Sicily's oldest Controlled Designation of Origin, established in 1968.
Grotta dei Lamponi is a lava-flow cave on Etna’s northern side, near Castiglione di Sicilia, formed during the volcano’s great 1614–1624 eruption. At approximately 1,750 metres, its principal cave system extends for around 400 metres, though broader geological measurements exceed 700 metres; unstable sections and difficult access mean that entry should only be attempted with appropriate equipment and qualified personnel.
Tenuta delle Terre Nere is an award-winning winery on Mount Etna’s northern slopes, between Solicchiata and Randazzo, founded in 2002 by Marco de Grazia, who helped map the area’s celebrated crus. Its wines reflect vineyards cultivated with meticulous, often manual care and an organic balance, drawing on Etna’s exceptional altitudes, temperature variations and richly complex volcanic soils.
